Teegan Moran serves as the Deputy Secretary General and Head of Education for VALMUN, where he is committed to creating a memorable and impactful conference experience. Now a senior in his sixth year at the American School of Valencia, Teegan’s MUN journey started somewhat unexpectedly. Though he was born in San Francisco—a city known for its culture of innovation and forward thinking—his introduction to Model United Nations came after his move to Spain. From the moment he experienced his first debate, the excitement of public speaking, and the challenge of defending a position, he knew MUN was something special. Over the years, Teegan has participated in a range of conferences, including VALMUN, SMUN, BCNMUN, MADMUN, and THIMUN, among others. These experiences have shaped his skills as a debater and public speaker. Beyond debate and diplomacy, what Teegan values most from MUN is the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and forge lasting friendships. Teegan’s approach to MUN is centered on growth and inclusivity. He recognizes that while only a small percentage of delegates will go on to work at the actual United Nations, the skills learned through MUN—public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration—are invaluable in any field. He believes that conferences should be spaces where students can speak without fear and connect with others without hesitation, ensuring that everyone walks away with new skills and lasting memories. As Deputy Secretary General, Teegan is dedicated to making this year’s VALMUN a meaningful experience for all participants. His goal is to create a welcoming environment where delegates feel empowered to engage, learn, and grow, both as speakers and as global citizens.
