Andrés González is a president chair in the Security Council. He was born in Venezuela, lived in Peru for 7 years from ages 7 to 14, and has lived in Valencia since 2022. He is currently an 11th grader, attending his fourth year at the American School of Valencia. Andrés joined MUN in 8th grade due to his interest in debating and solving worldwide issues, his passion for geopolitics and for the excuse to wear a suit. He has attended 6 national and international MUN conferences, including VALMUN, MADMUN, BCNMUN and MMUN in New York. Last year, he chaired the Security Council committee, allowing him to better grasp what a good productive committee looks like. Following these experiences, he can say that MUN has helped him develop and improve his debate, leadership and communication skills, as well as his confidence and courage. MUN conferences have given Andrés numerous treasured memories and allowed him to meet people who would later become good friends. As a president, he hopes he can help new delegates to acquire and master the skills that MUN has gifted him. Most importantly, he wants to work towards the goal of giving new MUNers a better overall experience in VALMUN.
Maya Di Nicola is a chair of the Security Council committee. Currently a junior at ASV in her fourth year at the school, Maya was born and raised in Cuba before moving to Valencia in 2022. Her passion for Model United Nations began at the International School of Havana, where she participated in ISHMUN and TMUN in Toronto. Since joining ASV, she has continued to cultivate her MUN career by attending conferences such as VALMUN 2022, MADMUN 2024, and BCNMUN 2024 as a delegate, and serving as Chair of the Disarmament Committee at VALMUN 2024. For Maya, MUN is more than just debating global issues, it is an opportunity to develop essential skills such as leadership, confidence, and collaboration. MUN has created lasting friendships, lots of which Maya still maintains and values to this day. As Chair, Maya is committed to fostering a fun, engaging, and intellectually stimulating environment, where delegates feel encouraged to express their ideas and challenge themselves. She will use her role wisely to advise new delegates on their first conference, as she knows that debating for the first time can be stressful. She looks forward to attending VALMUN 2025 and is thrilled to begin debating and creating memorable experiences!
