VALMUN 2024 Secretariat

Timothy Bowman

Secretary General

Timothy (TJ) Bowman is the Secretary General for VALMUN 2024. He is a senior in high school, has been involved in MUN since the seventh grade and has gathered a variety of awakening experiences since. He has developed a broad perspective of how Model United Nations plays out, with experience as a delegate, chair, president chair, and now a member of the secretariat team. MUN has allowed him to genuinely improve his character and broaden his skillset, including: comfort with public speaking, creative thinking on the spot, and networking skills. TJ, alongside the secretariat team, is determined to make VALMUN 2024 the best VALMUN conference yet for all parties with the best possible balance of productive debate and fun socialization. TJ aims for this year’s conference to let delegates experience a weekend that leads to new friendships, increased global awareness, and a true sense of accomplishment.

Ismael Segura

Deputy Secretary General Head of Communications and Logistics

Ismael Segura Serrano is the Deputy Secretary General: Head of Communications and Logistics. He is currently a senior in the American School of Valencia. He was born in Valencia, Spain and has lived his entire life in Valencia. He started participating in MUN conferences in 6th grade. Throughout his Model UN experience, Ismael has attended a total of eight conferences around Spain, including Madrid (MADMUN) and Valencia (VALMUN). He has had the privilege to experience Model UN from contrasting perspectives, as he has taken on the role of admin, delegate, and chair. Ismael loves Model UN because of the effort students have to make to solve current global issues that face our society. Model UN has resulted to be essential in his life as it has improved drastically his speaking, research and vocabulary skills. He wants to be a chair because he wants to focus on the organization of the conference, making it the best possible outcome for the delegates and admins. He looks forward to attending the conference as a deputy secretary general and is excited to see how the delegates develop and improve along the conference.

Teegan Moran

Deputy Secretary General Head of Education

Teegan Moran serves as the Deputy Secretary General and Head of Education for VALMUN, where he is committed to creating a memorable and impactful conference experience. Now a senior in his sixth year at the American School of Valencia, Teegan’s MUN journey started somewhat unexpectedly. Though he was born in San Francisco—a city known for its culture of innovation and forward thinking—his introduction to Model United Nations came after his move to Spain. From the moment he experienced his first debate, the excitement of public speaking, and the challenge of defending a position, he knew MUN was something special. Over the years, Teegan has participated in a range of conferences, including VALMUN, SMUN, BCNMUN, MADMUN, and THIMUN, among others. These experiences have shaped his skills as a debater and public speaker. Beyond debate and diplomacy, what Teegan values most from MUN is the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and forge lasting friendships. Teegan’s approach to MUN is centered on growth and inclusivity. He recognizes that while only a small percentage of delegates will go on to work at the actual United Nations, the skills learned through MUN—public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration—are invaluable in any field. He believes that conferences should be spaces where students can speak without fear and connect with others without hesitation, ensuring that everyone walks away with new skills and lasting memories. As Deputy Secretary General, Teegan is dedicated to making this year’s VALMUN a meaningful experience for all participants. His goal is to create a welcoming environment where delegates feel empowered to engage, learn, and grow, both as speakers and as global citizens.
