DISARMAMENT COMMITTEE TEAM

Marta Ferrer

President

Marta Ferrer Sánchez-Barcaiztegui is a president of the Disarmament committee. She is currently a junior student in the American School of Valencia. She was born in Valencia, Spain, and has lived there her whole life. She started participating in Model UN conferences in 7th grade. Throughout her Model UN experience, Marta has attended a total of eight in person conferences, including conferences in Valencia (VALMUN), Madrid (MADMUN), Barcelona (BCNMUN), and THIMUN (The Hague). Marta believes that MUN promotes a sense of global awareness and is a mind opening experience for delegates and chairs to learn about global issues. She is honored to form part of the VALMUN 2024 conference and looks forward to, what she hopes will, be a fun yet productive debate in the Disarmament committee.

Reid Moran

Chair

Reid Moran is a chair of the Disarmament committee. He was born in San Francisco California, and moved to Valencia in 2019 before the 2020 lockdowns, attending his 5th Year at the American School of Valencia now. He started doing MUN in 7th grade attending his first conference here at VALMUN. It was here where he gained his love for debate and the spirit of MUN, with seven experiences under his belt including BCNMUN, MADMUN and VALMUN, Reid is ready to finally transition from a delegate to the coveted role of Chair. It is these very conferences that have helped him to develop many of the skills that he relies on throughout the day including; Leadership and communication skills, as well as a love for public speaking. MUN has given Reid some of his most Treasured Memories and hopes that being chair of the Disarmament committee will inspire other MUNers to take the torch of Delegacy and make something of their MUN legacy.

Maya di Nicola

Chair

Maya Di Nicola is a chair of the Disarmament committee. She was born in Cuba and lived there until she came to Valencia in 2022. She is currently in 9th grade, attending her second year at ASV. Before that, she enjoyed MUN experiences in her old school, the International School of Havana. She kept pursuing Model UN and attended VALMUN 2022 and MADMUN 2024 as a delegate. Maya enjoys Model UN not only because of the importance of discussing global issues, but also because it develops great skills like leadership, confidence and the ability to collaborate with others. MUN also creates lasting friendships, lots of which Maya still maintains to this day. She believes that by taking the role of chair, she will create a fun yet still challenging space for all delegates to have fruitful and interesting debates, and will use her role wisely to advise new delegates on their first conference, as she knows that debating for the first time can be stressful. She looks forward to attending VALMUN 2024 and is thrilled to begin debating and creating memorable experiences!
