VALMUN 2022 theme will encompass the issue of achieving stabilization through progress. At this conference, both new and experienced delegates must deal with world issues that involve new changes that are able to ensure balance in all regions of this nation. Usually, leaders around the world seek to establish more stable societies by implementing economical, social, health, or environmental measures, such as the ones delegates must come up with during this three-day conference. Nowadays, Member States are in a hurry to adapt to a new political, ecological and financial situation that has recently appeared due to unexpected issues such as pandemics, economic recessions, armed conflicts, and climate crises. Therefore, this conference will be providing delegates with topics that collectively deal with settling a better future for further generations through progressive solutions that will range depending on each country’s stance.
What is VALMUN?
As a MUN Conference, the objective at the Valencia Model United Nations programe is to create a diplomatic platform for students from different schools and countries simulating that of the real United Nations. Students will become experts in global issues, cooperative negotiation and problem solving.
Educational Goals
Being a part of VALMUN teaches students to:
Debate issues concerning the world today
Gain confidence in public speaking
Meet many students from all over the world
Work in the field of diplomacy
In addition, students have the opportunity to work with other students from a variety of American and international schools from different cities and countries.
VALMUN's Philosophy and Rules
Students will role-play as delegates representing a country or NGO in a specific committee of the United Nations. They will have to research their country, investigate international issues, lobby, debate, and elaborate solutions to global problems.
The delegates that are considered to be most contributing are given awards, but VALMUN emphasizes the importance of collaboration rather than competition, for one of its aims is to promote the idea of peaceful problem solving. Throughout the conference, delegates will make use of critical thinking and communication skills, such as public speaking, research, listening, negotiating, conflict resolution, problem analysis and technical writing.
